I guess it will be ok for us to ask, “Where are the jobs Mr. President?”

From the White House – “The framework agreement includes some of the best measures for jumpstarting growth and job creation…”

The problem right now is that businesses in this country are not not hiring because they are short on cash.  They are doing slightly better than they were before the recession.  The problem is that American consumers haven’t yet recovered and are not spending money.  Businesses are not going to hire when their customer base isn’t increasing.  Extending the tax cuts doesn’t put more money into our hands – we’re not adding money to the economy, just the deficit.  Remember – these cuts were the brainchild of a President who presided over the lowest job creation of any president since World War II with the exception of Ford and the first Bush.

Obviously a 13 month extension for 99ers (those unemployed for at least 99 weeks) is a good thing.  The trouble is, the number of 99ers will continue to increase into 2011.  There just aren’t enough jobs being created regardless of the few concessions the President wrested from the Republicans.  The longer someone is unemployed, the harder it is to find work (I’m unemployed myself.  I know what the stakes are and this was a bad deal).  We’re going to be in the same position next year with a belligerent Republican controlled House.  How is this a win?

It’s time for the President to stop fighting with his team. It’s beginning to look like the French World Cup team.

Oh. And there’s this.  “In fact, the only groups likely to face a tax increase are those near the bottom of the income scale — individuals who make less than $20,000 and families with earnings below $40,000.”
